Applied Plastics Feature

Durable, PTFE coated precise forming mandrels for manufacturing small diameter parts including extruded tubing and formed rubber bladders are available from Applied Plastics Co., Inc. of Norwood, Massachusetts.

APC PTFE Natural™ Fluoropolymer Mandrels feature a uniform, non-flaking PTFE coating on stainless steel or nitinol wire. Providing an anti-stick surface that exhibits a 0.05 coefficient of friction per ASTM-1894, these mandrels withstand 550°F continuous temperatures with excursions up to 700°F.

Unlike conventional green mandrels that typically flake, PTFE Natural™ Fluoropolymer Mandrels are grit-blasted to enhance the bonding surface. Then the PTFE coating is precisely applied from 0.00005” to 0.0008” thick onto wire from 0.005” to 0.070” dia. with a ±0.0001” final dia. tolerance.

APC PTFE Natural™ Fluoropolymer Mandrels are priced from $1.19 per foot; with delivery from stock. Free samples and literature are available.
