Teflon® coated mandrels feature optimum release properties
By Applied Plastics on June 29, 2015

A line of Teflon® coated stainless steel or nitinol forming mandrels that features a 0.05 coefficient of friction for optimum release properties is available from Applied Plastics Co., Inc. of Norwood, Massachusetts.
APC Teflon® Coated Mandrels feature a uniform, non-flaking coating that provides a smooth slippery surface which is chemically inert and withstands up to 500°F operating temperatures. Made from stainless steel or nitinol, these Teflon® coated mandrels will increase the manufacturing output of stent delivery systems and related medical parts, claims the firm.
Designed for repeated use because of their low coefficient of friction and ability to operate at high temperatures, APC Teflon® Coated Mandrels are tested in accordance with ASTM-1894. For a superior bond, the wire is grit blasted before the Teflon® coatings are applied from .00005” to .0008” thick onto wire from .005” to .45” dia., with ±.0001” final dia. tolerances.
APC Teflon® Coated Mandrels are priced from $1.19 per foot, depending upon material, size, tolerances, and quantity; with delivery from stock. Free stainless steel samples and literature are available upon request.
