Teflon® Coated Wire For Cardiovascular Catheter | Applied Plastics

Written by Applied Plastics | June 29, 2015

A line of medical-grade Teflon® coated extrusion wire and forming mandrels for manufacturing cardio-vascular catheters, balloons, and related devices, where a clean inside diameter is absolutely critical, is available from Applied Plastics Company, Inc. of Norwood, Massachusetts.

Applied Plastics’ Teflon® Coated Extrusion Wire is fabricated using a prop-rietary etching process that eliminates flaking and permits over 25% elonga- tion to keep the catheter’s inside diameter clean.  Supplied spooled or cut to length, this fine extrusion wire features a 0.05 coefficient of friction which prevents sticking and simplifies its removal from the catheter.

Providing a slippery, anti-stick surface, Applied Plastics’ Teflon® Coated Extrusion Wire can be produced using stainless steel, nitinol, platinum and silver plated copper core wire.  Sizes can range from 0.001” to 0.070” dia. with a 0.0001” per side Teflon® coating. Applications include cardiovascular and epidural catheters, formed balloons, and other bio-compatible devices.

Applied Plastics’ Teflon® Coated Extrusion Wire is priced according to core wire, coating thickness, length, and quantity.  Samples, price quotations, and literature are available upon request.
