| Coatings and Finishes Beyond having access
to hundreds of standard coating products from DuPont, 3M, Pennwalt,
Whitford, and other leading suppliers, what is most important is
that at Applied Plastics we know how to select the best product,
custom formulate when necessary, and choose the best coating method
for your application. Most of the coatings we use are
environmentally-friendly and contain no solvents. Functional
coatings can be applied in a wide range of colors in nylon,
polyester, and epoxy, depending upon the nature of the material
being coated and your desired surface properties. Finishes can have
a matte, gloss, textured, or wrinkled appearance. PTFE
Natural™ Fluoropolymer Coated Medical-Grade Wire and Forming
Mandrels We maintain an extensive inventory of medical-grade
wire and forming mandrels in a wide range of sizes for fuse welding
and tipping operations. The forming mandrels conform to ASTM-1894.
Because of our inventory and manufacturing efficiency, we can
provide quick turnaround on orders for these parts. They can also be
custom manufactured to exact customer requirements. PTFE
Fluoropolymer Coated Hypotubes We can apply PTFE onto the
outside diameter of stainless steel or nitinol hypotubes with
±0.0001” to ±0.0004” tolerance to provide a smooth, highly
lubricious and non-flaking coating that assures easy arterial
transfer. Marker bands can also be provided at user-specified
intervals. Multi-laminate Stacking, Bonding, and Coating
Our stacking, laminating, bonding, and coating service produces
parts with electrical insulation to 2,000 volts and up to 1,000
v/mil thickness, depending upon configuration. Ideal for gyroscopes,
small motors, and stators, the lamination alignment is held to
±0.0005” and parts are deburred and coated to provide smoother
wire-winding and reduce scrap. Electrostatic Powder Coating
This is a process where a positively charged particle is evenly
sprayed onto a negatively charged or grounded item which is going to
be coated. The electrical charge holds the powder in place during
transport to the oven and through the complete bake cycle. At
Applied Plastics, we can coat individual pieces, short runs, and
full production runs. Ovens that accommodate all types of
products We have ovens that can accommodate all types of
products and we use them to prepare items for coating as well as
curing them afterwards. Preparation for coating includes techniques
such as surface degreasing and outgassing to remove oil, grease, and
other impurities prior to sand blasting, and we even coat certain
metals with a phosphate solution to obtain superior powder adhesion,
depending upon their application. Curing temperatures can range from
200ºF to 800ºF for varying durations, depending upon the item and
the coating being applied. |
